subtlety and horseplay

Please go here and love it as much as I do. Thank you JM for sharing.

Happenings on a rainy Friday, the 13th:

Got sucked into twitter. There goes my life. But you can find me at twitter.com/whylime17! I promise I will stalk you if you promise you will stalk me back :)

Listening to: "The Lowering (A Sad Day in Greenville Town)" by The Avett Brothers. Depressing? yes. Beautiful? absolutely.

Obsessed with grapefruits. In related news, I'm also obsessed with clorox wipes.

Mozilla rocks harder than Internet Explorer.

Daydreaming about taking a q-tip and silver polish to an old picture frame on my desk. Would be very fulfilled.

Explaining to a friend that there is a HUGE difference between a cello and a bass. And maybe we should wait a few seconds before we say those things that pop into our heads.

nothing interesting lately...

...except today I accidentaly drank dish soap.

Daylight savings has me all whacked out today, let's regroup when I've caught up on sleep, shall we?

cupcakes and new friends

Well friends, I think my winter blues are coming to an end, FINALLY. Today, I was running errands on my lunch hour, and I ended up downtown to drop off some paperwork. The sun was out (again, FINALLY), it was a mild 71 degrees with a gentle breeze, passersby were friendly and smiling, and I thought "THIS is perfect. Enjoy this moment." So I headed across the street after my appointment to the Cupcake Shoppe and picked up a few treats for my coworkers. (I also snagged a glass-bottle Coke because I can never say no to those.) OOOOooo! Also! Before going downtown, I had to stop at the bank, and the drive-thru teller is a regular at my gym whom I've seen but never met. She totally introduced herself while depositing my check, and now we are gym friends and I'm crazy excited because she seems like a real sweetheart. And I'll probably see her there today because I just ate my body weight in chocolate raspberry cupcakes (the current flavor of the week, in case you were curious).

Ta-ta for now, I'm off in search of insulin to curb this inevitable diabetic coma.

I should be working....

...but instead I am dreaming up ideas for the big redecoration of 2010. I have decided to coordinate my living room around these:

blue coral prints from Horchow.com

not a fan of them up against that wall color though, thoughts?

eating: pretzels
listening to: "fresh feeling" by eels
thinking about: the advantages of slate gray over chocolate brown in terms of wall color

Hola everyone! And how was YOUR valentine's day? Mine was lovely, thanks :) I slept in, watched a couple of movies - Down With Love was one of them, it's a favorite of mine - had dinner with family, and had a few drinks with a couple girlfriends. All in all, a nice day.

I've decided that mustard is the perfect condiment. Let me explain why. First of all, it tastes great on nearly everything...pretzels, sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers, sausage, etc. Also, there is like zero fat and calories in mustard, so you can eat it and not even feel guilty! Can't do that with say, mayo or ranch can you??? Right. AND it comes in different varieties so you don't get bored with the same ol' same ol'. You can choose from regular mustard, spicy brown mustard, dijon mustard, WHOLE GRAIN mustard (my favorite!), it's amazing! How many types of ketchup can you have, hmmm???

I feel I've made my point.

I never wanted to be your rolling train, I never wanted to be your dancin shoes....

Ryan always seems to know what kind of mood I'm in, and how to walk me through it. Thanks for holding my hand, dude. And also for being hot, but not too hot to take away from how good your music really is. It's hard to take a smokin hot dude's music too seriously when you're too busy undressing him with your eyes. Just sayin...

Also, it's going to be in the 60s this weekend. Anyone wanna play outside? Say, by the lake?

post-holiday update

Hi friends! Wow it has been FOREVER since we've last spoken. How have you been? Doing well, I hope. I must admit, these past few months have been a non-stop whirlwind of things, and I apologize deeply for not keeping you abreast of all the goings-on of Court 5. Thanksgiving was way too short, Christmas was typical, New Years spent in NYC (not so typical, very exciting), and one very lovely snow-week spent with someone equally as lovely. Here are pictures from the first snow day of 2009:

How is everyone keeping up with those resolutions for the new year? I didn't make any this year because a)I fail miserably at keeping them and b)they're always the same every year anyway.

Also? Clocks. Here are some things I have noticed about myself and clocks. I think digital clocks are ugly, but they are the most functional. Little known fact about me: I can't tell time if the clock isn't digital. DON'T try and explain it to me - I know HOW to tell time, it's just too hard and requires too much thought and I really don't have 30 seconds to be puzzled over how late I actually am for work. I always make a wish at 11:11. And it's usually the same wish, typically a variation on a familiar theme. It's extra special if I just happen to glance at the clock and catch it in time. AAAAAAAAND I like it when I catch the clock at 12:34. Sometimes I make a wish on that one too.

I promise I will be better about posting in 2009. Maybe I won't ramble on so much about clocks...or maybe I will!
